About Rae Waters
Rae was elected to the Arizona House of Representatives in 2008. In her first term, she has worked with members of all political parties and ideologies to protect education, get Arizona's budget crisis back under control, promote public safety, and much more.
Rae is also in her 12th year serving on the local Kyrene Elementary School District Governing Board, where she has served three terms as president. She is a past president of the Arizona School Boards Association, which represents more than 1,200 school board members and more than 1 million Arizona children, and until last year served on the board of directors of WestEd, a non-profit education research group.

Rae has lived in Arizona for 41 years and has lived in Ahwatukee for 30 years. She graduated from Northern Arizona University in 1978 with a Bachelor's degree in sociology. She is married to Jim, her husband of 31 years, who works as an engineer in Chandler. The Waters have two children: a son, Tommy, and daughter Alyssa.
